In addition to the tremendous physical benefits, some people enjoy the safe, peaceful atmosphere and utilize their session as a time of meditation and reflection. Massage is not a substitute for regular medical care. If you are under the care of a doctor, please be sure to let your doctor know that you are receiving massage.
Each session is customized to clients specific needs choosing from a variety of modalities:
*Deep Tissue - Deep tissue massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. There is a difference between ‘deep tissue’ and ‘deep pressure’, and deep tissue massage should not be overly painful. There may be some discomfort during slower, deeper strokes and longer holds to allow the tissue to release tension organically. Deep tissue massage can help reduce pain, increase range of motion, improve circulation, and relieve muscle spasms.
*Trigger Point - Trigger point therapy taps into the body’s internal web of muscles and tissues to unlock common chronic and injury-related pains caused by tension and stress.
*Swedish Massage - Relaxing massage using light to firm pressure and long, smooth strokes. A combination of kneading and friction will target the more superficial layers of muscle tissue, and can include active and passive joint movements.
*Myofascial Release - Focused manual pressure and stretching loosen up restricted movement and pain that arises from myofascial tissue - the tough membranes that wrap, connect, and support your muscles.
*Sports Massage - Pre-activity sports massage includes dynamic stretching to allow the connective tissue to work through a full range of motion in order to reduce possible injury.
Post-activity sports massage will focus on recovering the muscle tissue that may have been impacted during the sport activity. This will involve long strokes to help reduce soreness in joints and muscles.
*Prenatal Massage - Massage therapy specific to the needs of pregnant women to help minimize stress, promote relaxation, and help with lower back pain.
